University of Waikato Research Masters Scholarship 2025

The Research Masters Scholarship provides financial support for excellent students undertaking a master’s thesis in any discipline at the University of Waikato.

Eligibility for the University of Waikato Research Masters Scholarship:

• Be enrolled or intending to enrol full-time in their first master's degree with a 90- or 120-point thesis (593 or 594).
• Have made contact with a potential thesis supervisor at the University of Waikato.
• Be one of the following:
  • NZ Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Resident Visa holder
  • Australian Citizen/Permanent Resident living in NZ
  • International student who has completed (or will complete) 120 points at a NZ university by the application deadline
• May have already started their thesis (stipend will be adjusted based on time remaining).
• Part-time applicants are eligible but will receive a reduced scholarship value.

Application Process:

Students must submit an application form to the university to be eligible for the scholarship.

Value of the Scholarship:

The Scholarship will have a value of up to NZD 15,000 with the value dependent on the thesis type and points enrolled in at the time of beginning study and throughout the tenure of the scholarship.
